Who Runs It
The State Common Entrance Test Cell (CET Cell), Maharashtra conducts the Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for the 85% state quota MBBS and BDS seats in Maharashtra's government, corporation, private and deemed-adjacent institutions that fall under state counselling. An allotment you do not report against within the published window is treated as declined, and in later rounds that can also cost you your deposit and your place in the process. Put every CAP date in a calendar with a 24-hour reminder.
Eligibility Types: Where Most Applications Go Wrong
Maharashtra does not simply ask "are you a domicile?" — it asks which eligibility type you fall into, and each type has a different document set. Broadly:
- Maharashtra domicile candidates — the main state quota route, established with a valid Maharashtra domicile certificate.
- Candidates schooled partly outside Maharashtra — in past cycles, a candidate who passed Class 10 outside the state remained eligible if they passed Class 12 from an institution in Maharashtra and held a valid Maharashtra domicile certificate.
- Children of central/state government employees posted in Maharashtra, defence personnel, and other special categories — each defined separately in the brochure with its own proof requirements.
