What Is CSAB?
The Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB) runs special counselling rounds to fill seats that remain vacant in the NIT+ system — that's 31 NITs, 26 IIITs, and around 45 GFTIs — after all rounds of JoSAA are complete. Allotment is based on your JEE Main 2026 rank. Before registering, make sure you meet the CSAB 2026 eligibility criteria — not every JoSAA participant qualifies.
Who Is Eligible?
- Candidates who were eligible for the NIT+ system in JoSAA as per their JEE Main 2026 rank.
- You can participate even if you already hold a seat from JoSAA — though specific seat-withdrawal and reporting rules apply.
- Note: candidates who are not Indian nationals and not OCI/PIO holders are not eligible for CSAB seat allocation to NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

How the Process Works
- Fresh registration on csab.nic.in.
- Fill a new choice list of the vacant institute-branch options you'd accept, in true preference order.
- Round 1 allotment — accept and report, or wait for Round 2.
- Round 2 allotment — the final chance in the NIT+ system for 2026.
